Power station. Efficiency improvement. Good for the power station. Good for the environment. The way forward!
Power stations where diesel engines or gas turbines generate electrical energy have the disadvantage that their fuel efficiency is low. This is as a result of the extremely hot and unused exhaust gases that make up nearly 2/3 of the energy. It is possible to drastically increase the efficiency of these power stations by using the high temperature of the exhaust gases to create steam. Steam turbines are driven by this steam which can provide extra electrical power using a generator, allowing more electricity to be created from this fuel. This benefits the energy and economic efficiency which in turn is beneficial for the environment as the exhaust gases are significantly cooler. Resulting in a better return on investment.
