Power stations where diesel engines generate electricity. The main advantage of a 'diesel station' is the considerably shorter time that is required before building can commence. The preparation time for a conventional power station may involve ten to fifteen years work. A diesel power station only takes a couple of years to prepare. When the demand increases, it is relatively easy to modify the station by adding more diesel generators (modular build-up). Many developing countries operate these diesel power stations.
