Challenge / question
A lot of energy is needed for the production of fertiliser. As much as 5% of the world's entire gas production is used for the production of ammonia, an important component of fertiliser. This equates to approximately 2% of the world wide energy consumption. This is the reason why many fertiliser factories are located in countries that are rich in oil or gas. Fertiliser is produced in grains which are initially damp and therefore require drying. The best result is obtained by using very dry and warm air in a fluidised bed. This enables us to supply a large amount of important components.
