Bronswerk Heat Transfer designed a Mutitube Hairpin Heat Exchanger, which takes the benefits of both Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers and Double Pipe Heat Exchangers. Therefore we combine a U-tube bundle with tube plates and shells for each of the legs. The return header ensures differential expansion of the bundle and shell. But it is also possible to remove the tube bundle for inspection, cleaning and maintenance.

This solution can achieve counter current flow, giving maximum temperature differential and enabling it to accommodate temperature approaches or temperature crosses.

As the bundle can move independently of the shell, there is no need for expansion bellows. As a consequence this Heat Exchanger allows to accommodate wide or cyclic temperature variations.

We make it possible to incorporate the solution with several process enhancements such as turbulators, vapor belts, and finned tubes.
